Dear Parents and Carers

Well, this newsletter brings a close to our first term of the academic year. I cannot believe how quickly the time has passed. It has been yet another incredibly busy, but successful term.  I am really proud of everything the children have achieved over the course of the first term. The Christmas performances have been the icing on the cake for us and are a lovely way to finish the term.

Most recently, with the publication of ‘The Primary League Tables’, it was revealed that Delamere Academy is in the top 0.4% of all schools nationally – this is for our Year 6 SATs achievements in reading, writing and maths. For the second year in a row, we are the number one school in the league tables for Cheshire West and Cheshire. We are absolutely delighted with this news and I want to say a massive thank you to all of the staff here at Delamere and the families for their continued support.

At the beginning of the week the children had a special Christmas treat. They gathered in the hall to watch 'Beauty and the Beast'. The children loved the pantomime and even joined in with some of the songs and dancing. As always, there are some fantastic pictures on Twitter of the children enjoying the show.

On sporting front this week, we have taken part in the annual Academy Trust Year 3 and 4 swimming gala at Ellesmere Primary School. Competing against the other schools within the Trust, our children took part in a variety of individual and team relay races. All of the children performed fantastically well, finishing as runners up! Also this week our Year 3 and 4 team took part in a Sandstone Sports Partnership Indoor Athletics Competition finishing as Bronze Medallists! Well done to all of the children who took part.

On the 24 December at St Peter’s Church, Reverend Elaine is leading the Christingle Service at 4:00pm.

From Mrs Clayton and all the team here at Delamere Academy we wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! We hope that you have a lovely restful break. School will re-open on Monday 6 January and we look forward to seeing you all then.

Here are some dates for your diaries:
