This week Blakemere class have been giving presentations about Blue Whales in the style of David Attenborough!

In Literacy this week the children have been homing in on their presenting skills! They have been working in teams to collect information on blue whales to share with the rest of the class. They were given points for using the correct vocabulary such as: flippers, Baleen plate, blubber, bristles and blow hole. I was impressed with the way they were able to present to the rest of the class, with great enthusiasm and subject knowledge. Well done Blakemere!

In Maths this week the children have been looking at ordering and comparing fractions. They have been thinking about fractions being pizzas and would they prefer 1/4 or 1/8 of a pizza? This can be tricky to understand as 8 is obviously larger than 4.

In topic this week we have built on or understanding of the UK by studying the rivers that run through it. The children looked at maps to help locate where the main rivers in the UK are and what sea they run out into. They were able to identify where the Atlantic Ocean, Irish Sea, North Sea and English Channel were.

I have been so impressed with their homework projects they have been bringing in each week, thank you so much for your support! The games they have created and presentations have been really well received by the class.

I hope you have a lovely weekend. I just hope the sun stays with us!
