What a surprise for Blakemere when they walked into the hall on Wednesday morning!

Blakemere met a professional Rugby team this week from America!  The Falcons team talked to the children about what it's like being a professional athlete.  After the talk, the school were invited to watch the Rugby team take part in a training session on the school field.  They enjoyed every moment!  A highlight of theirs was talking to the team and having their photo taken with them, a moment they will remember for a long time! A special thank you to Mr Greening for making this possible, we wish the team every success for the International 7's competition against England, France, Spain, Ireland and Germany.

In Maths this week we have been practising reading and writing numbers up to 1000 in numerals and words.  Great work Blakemere!

In Literacy the children have continued to explore their descriptive writing skills.  On Monday the class went outside on a cold, crisp morning to soak up the atmosphere and take turns to describe using their senses.  They then went back into class and wrote a piece of work, their vocabulary was amazing!  Later in the week Blakemere wrote a piece of work called 'The night the animals came into the garden', inspired by the famous 2016 John Lewis advert. The children described the cold winter's evening before introducing the nocturnal animals into their gardens and the adventures that took place that frosty night. They used skills from Monday's LOTC lesson to support this piece of work.

Thank you for your continued support with reading and homework, benchmarking will take place in the next couple of weeks.

Well done Blakemere, another wonderful week.  We wish you a happy and restful weekend,

Mrs Birks and Mrs Dodd.
