It has been lovely to welcome all of the children back and to hear all of their stories.

In Literacy this week, we have started to explore our text for this term ‘How to train your dragon’ by Cressida Cowell. In pairs and as a class, we have discussed the genre, what the main characters are like, the setting, what made us want to read on and any questions we had about the text. Afterwards, we looked at how Cowell describes characters to help us build a picture in our minds. In grammar, we have been looking at the suffixes –ed, -est, -ing, and –est.

During our maths lessons, we have been refreshing our memories on column multiplication and the grid method. I am really impressed with how much the children’s’ confidence has grown in regard to word problems.

On Thursday, we introduced our new topic ‘How are things different?’ and designed our topic book covers through using collage.  The children are very excited to start comparing various aspects of the UK to China.

We have a school trip on Wednesday 22nd January to the Liverpool World Museum and are in need of two parent helpers. If you are available and wanting to join, please let me know.

Have a lovely end to your week,

Miss Lewis and Mrs Campbell.
