We have been very busy this week in Blakemere – this half term has flown by!

We have been completing assessments linked to maths, Literacy and comprehension. The children should all be very proud of themselves because as we discussed last week, regardless of the number on the page, they all worked really hard and tried their best.

We have also been discussing why it is important to keep your password safe as part of Safer Internet Day on Tuesday. The children created a poster on Purple Mash with some Top Tips for making your password strong.

In science, we have been investigating soil formation by going outside, taking a sample of soil and mixing it up with water. This allowed us to see the different layers that formed, which we discussed as a class.

During our maths lessons, the children have been using their knowledge of converting time to match up all of the cards (analogue clocks, roman numerals, digital and words). we have also been solving some time related word problems - the children are gaining confidence in being able to identify the key features.

We tested our communication skills in R.E! The children sat back to back with one child being able to see a piece of religious artwork and the other child sitting with their back to it. The children had to describe the artwork to their partner so that they could imagine it and draw it. This activity really got the children focused on all the small aspects in the artwork which helped them to discuss the possible meanings.

The half term homework for next week is to write a 500 word story and type it up ready to be sent into school for the 28th February. You should have all received a letter explaining the challenge. I’m really looking forward to reading all your creative and wonderful stories

I hope you have a relaxing half term,

Miss Lewis and Mrs Campbell
