Blakemere have had fun getting creative this week!

We have been coming to the end of our fractions topic in maths and the children have been working really hard to solve some tricky 2 step word problems.

In Literacy, we planned out our adventure stories and it was fantastic to see how creative the children’s ideas were! We have also been completing some reading comprehensions based upon the Chinese New Year and the Chinese zodiac signs to help children to develop their ability to recall facts and their inference skills.

We have also had lots of opportunities to develop our drawing skills. The children followed a tutorial which showed step-by-step how to draw a Chinese dragon and a toucan. I was really impressed with their positive attitudes despite some of them finding it a bit tricky at first and it was so lovely to hear the children say they were proud of themselves!

It has been an incredibly busy week with lots of changes going on across the school. Work packs for the first week of home learning have been sent home with the children with a letter explaining the expectations and a timetable of activities. After the first week, learning will take place online. If you haven’t already, please log into your new email account and use the invitation email to join Blakemere’s Google Classroom page. I understand that you may not be familiar with this so using the guide that was sent out by the school office, please spend some time to explore Google Classroom and the links that have already been added. If you have any questions regarding this or home learning, please use your new Google email to contact me at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and I will reply between 9am-4pm.

However, most importantly, please look after each other, have some quality family time and try to remain in high spirits. Thank you for your continued support during this difficult time. Your kind comments have been really appreciated.

Miss Lewis and Mrs Campbell.
