On Wednesday we had a nice surprise visit from the USA Rugby 7s in assembly and on our school field.

It was fantastic to meet the rugby team, coached by Lucca's Dad Mr Greening, and learn about the dedication and hard work it takes to become a professional athlete. Miss Hume's personal favourite moment was when a member of Hatchmere asked the team if they play the 'traffic light game' when training as it's their favourite game to play in Mr Freeman's PE lessons!

Continuing the sporting theme, this week we had another fantastic swimming lesson. Our swimming teacher, Lauren, was so impressed last week she decided to challenge us to swimming on our backs with the woggle as support. We are so impressed with how confident and able all the children are in the water, it's fantastic to see them flourish at this important life skill.

In phonics this week we've learnt the sound /d/ and /m/ and also the tricky word /the/. The definition of a tricky word is a word that we can't blend and we just need to sight read, as the English language is quite complicated there is a few of these words! There is lots of useful information online about supporting your child with phonics at home, but some can be quite confusing. We recommend you read our phonics page on the website and an independent website called 'letters and sounds' (links below).

In Hatchmere, and the Ark, we occasionally need to provide children with spare clothes. If you have any spare tights, socks, underpants or old school uniform you do not need please donate them to us!

Have a lovely weekend,

Miss Hume, Mrs Lloyd and Mrs Lathaen
