This week Hatchmere have been learning about churches, we talked about the celebrations that take place in a church and children's experiences of being in churches. We then looked at a range of images of different churches and identified the 2D shapes we could see on them.

The children were then challenged to create their own churches using construction materials and through printing 2D shapes. The children really enjoyed building their own churches and were able to talk about the features in detail.

In phonics this week we focused on adding sound buttons under three letter words, this helps children to identify the sounds in words and practise blending.

Thank you to those families who brought in homework this week from the half term, we will be sharing these in class tomorrow.

This week was the first of our 2 parents evenings, thank you to everyone who attended this week. We hope you enjoyed looking through your child's learning journey, we're looking to share the rest next week.

Next Wednesday is our first school trip to Chester Zoo which promises to be a lovely day! Please ensure you provide your child with a suitable coat, scarf and gloves if necessary. The children also need to bring a bag that they can carry for the whole day which contains their lunch, drinks and snacks.

Have a lovely weekend,

Miss Hume, Mrs Lloyd and Mrs Lathaen
