During a phonics lesson Hatchmere practised using their phonics skills to record words.

We used a game on the phonics play website called 'Rocket Rescue' where we needed to spell a range of words in order for the rocket to be able to blast off again. The children really impressed us with their ability to segment the sounds in the words in order to write them.

This hasn't been our only focus of writing this week, following on from our trip to the Zoo and our collective worship focusing on the story of Noah's Ark we talked about having different animals as pets. The children then chose any animal they wanted to have as a pet, drew a picture and wrote about it. This was a really good activity for extending both children's writing and communication skills. It's amazing to think how much progress the children have made with their literacy work since starting at school.

We have been practising lots for our Nativity this week, we can't wait for you to see it! Please remember to bring your child's costume into school by Thursday next week, thank you!

Next Friday is also our trip to see Father Christmas, the children do not need a snack or lunch but they do need to be dressed in their uniforms with lots of layers and warm coats as it is an outdoor trip.

Have a lovely weekend, if you decide to decorate your christmas trees please send us a picture for your child's learning journey!
