Welcome back after the Christmas holidays! We’ve started back with a busy week, as always!

Our new topic this term is ‘How do we celebrate difference?’, there is more information on what we’ll be learning this term on the Hatchmere page of this website so please take some time to read this.

We now have a new role play area, Delamere’s very own travel agents! The children have really enjoyed exploring this area of the classroom this week and it’s prompted lots of fantastic imaginative play. The children are encouraged to use the resources to book holidays and write lists of what they need to take with them on their trip.

We also had a visit from an author this week to help excite the children about our new topic. Eleanor Mckone wrote the story ‘Piper’s Passport First Stop Australia’ based on her own experiences of traveling to the country. Hatchmere enjoyed learning different facts about Australia and asking Eleanor questions on how she wrote the book.

As the children were so interested and excited about this story we’ve decided we’d like to write some of our own stories based on holidays and travels we’ve been on. As a very mini homework we would like parents to bring in or email a photo from a holiday or day trip your family have been on. It needs to be a holiday your child remembers and can talk about in detail to help form the basis of their stories. Please can all photos be brought into school or emailed to admin by Friday 18th January. Thank you in advance!

We hope you have a lovely weekend,

Miss Hume, Mrs Lloyd and Mrs Lathaen
