Last week was a busy week for Hatchmere.

We continued our maths work on shapes this week. The children continued to explore common 2D shapes, focusing on circles, triangles, rectangles and squares. We used the peg boards to make 2D shapes, matched shapes to their outline, and worked as a class to sort a selection of shapes and discuss their properties.

In phonics we focused on the phonemes 'l', 'll' and 'ss', as well as the tricky words 'no', 'go' and 'to'. The parent phonic session seemed to go well with positive feedback, and the children loved having mum or dad in the classroom too!

On Tuesday, the children were treated to workshop by Richard the Story teller. We were amazed at how long the children sat for. It was a magical experience for the children to experience first hand story telling with no pictures to look at! They even got involved with actions and chants.

On Friday we focused on Children In Need. The children made spotty cakes with Mrs Lathaen and Mr Hunt.

We hope you had a lovely weekend,

Miss Wood, Mrs Lathaen and Mr Hunt.
