Hatchmere loved their trip to Blakemere Craft Centre today!

Hatchmere loved their visit to Blakemere Craft Centre today. An elf greeted the children and told them it was Mrs Claus' birthday, but she was sad because nobody had remembered. The children then snuck into the elves workshop and surprised Mrs Claus, she was very happy to meet Hatchmere. Unfortunately, Father Christmas was nowhere to be found, he had gone missing, and the elf had lost all her magical dust. Hatchmere danced and shouted to raise the Christmas spirit and created more dust, before being turned into honorary elves for the day. We ended the visit by finding Father Christmas in his letter sorting room. Each child got to tell Father Christmas what they want for Christmas and then were given an early present to take home.

A big thank you to the team at Blakemere for such a wonderful experience, the children loved every minute!

This week we have focused on our nativity rehearsal, the children are working so hard to learn their lines and songs. We can't wait to perform for you next week. If you have not yet brought in a costume, please remember to do so early next week.

In phonics, we have continued to consolidate our segmenting and blending skills to support our reading and writing. The children have also been writing some letters to Father Christmas and were so excited, most wrote more than one! The class have also completed a few Christmas crafts this week, including making a snowflake, and painting their salt dough decorations for the Christmas tree.

Next week we have our Christmas stay and play sessions. Please remember, due to limited space, only one family member per child is able to attend either the morning or afternoon session, but we will host more events like this each term for you to be involved.

Our nativity will be held at St. Peter's Church on Thursday, doors open from 1:15pm. A collection plate will be available within the church if you are willing to make a small donation. After the nativity, parents are invited back to school for a coffee afternoon in the school hall. There will be a selection of cakes and refreshments for you to purchase, as well as a raffle. Thank you to the PTA for organising. Once the children are changed out of their costumes, we will bring them to meet you in the hall, please feel free to leave early once finished.

As we are nearing the end of term, children are beginning to get tired and there are lots of coughs and sniffles about. As always in Hatchmere, we spend at least some time outside each day, especially taking advantage of the dry days. Please remember to wrap your child up warm.

Have a lovely weekend,

Miss Wood, Mrs Lathaen and Mr Hunt
