In one of our PE lessons this week we used the parachute, which the children really enjoyed!

We play lots of games involving the parachute and the children really enjoyed it and were very well behaved.

This week in phonics we have been recapping lots of phase 3 sounds. In particular we have been looking at the /er/ sound, this can be a harder digraph to recognise for children so it’s beneficial to recap it. The children practised reading and writing the sound in lots of different ways.

Due to some of our resources having to be put into storage, due to them not being easy to clean at the end of each day, we have been playing with some new maths resources which are used by the older children in school. A particular favourite has been making 3D shape nets and working hard to put them together. This is a great maths activity and fine motor activity for the Hatchmere children.

Thank you for your support and kind words this week on how well the children have settled back into school life. A new teacher and new routine can be tricky but the children have adapted so well and we’re all really proud of them. It’s so lovely to be able to spend time with them and to be back in Hatchmere.

We hope you have a lovely weekend,

Miss Hume, Mr Hunt and Mrs Lathaen
