Reverend Angela talked to Hatchmere about Saints this week.

The children sat beautifully for Reverend Angela as she talked about Saints, including St Peter who our Church is named after.  Reverend Angela talked to the children about the symbol of the poppy and how we remember all the brave people and animals from the war.  The children asked lots of questions which really impressed her and looks forward to meeting the children again very soon.

Hatchmere created beautiful pieces of poppy art work to display in the school grounds. They can be seen from the front of the building on the driveway and in the large school window.

In maths this week we have concentrated on number formation.  A few fun activities can help to support this. Water painting on the driveway is a great game.  This is where you have a pot of water, a paintbrush and a dry piece of outdoor flooring.  Using the paint brush, children can paint numbers onto the floor.  Best of all there's no mess to clean up!  Using sticks to draw in mud, chalks on the path, as well as pencils and pens on paper are all fun ways to practise writing numbers and letters at home.

In Phonics we have been practising j, v, w and x.  On Twitter you can see the children doing the symbol for X factor!

On Thursday the children had a Bushcraft lesson with Mr Ashworth and loved every moment!  They built houses in the forest to create a village.  This activity was great in supporting their school topic theme.

Hatchmere had an e-safety lesson yesterday and all successfully logged onto their Numbots accounts! Well done Hatchmere!

We are so proud of the children for settling so well into school and working hard each day.  We look forward to sharing these moments with you during parents evening next week.  There are some time slots available on Arbor if you need to book.  Please get in touch if you need help with booking, thank you.

Please check if you have activated your child's Google Classroom email address.  This tool is to help with home school learning should we need it in the future. Any problems, please get in touch.

Wishing you a happy and restful weekend,

Mrs Birks, Mrs Inskip, Mrs Lathaen and Mr Hunt
