What an exciting week!

We are so proud of our new outdoor area!  The children (and staff!) have eagerly been watching the builders construct the canopy over the last week outside the Hatchmere classroom with excitement!  At the end of the week, the canopy was complete and the children were able to go out and play under the spacious shelter happily on a rainy day! We can't wait for daily adventures out there all through the winter months and beyond.

Hatchmere have been busy learning new digraphs this week in phonics; 'sh','ch','th' and 'ng.'  The children have taken part in many activities to help learn their new sounds and are growing more and more in confidence every day with their reading and writing skills.  One activity was to choose a story book from the classroom and go for a digraph hunt.  Hatchmere loved this game and worked brilliantly both independently and in pairs.  This is a fun game to play at home too!  We also worked on our tricky words 'he','she','me' and 'be.'

Hatchmere have also been getting to grips with the Kindles in class.  Here, the children are playing NumBots.  This is a fun maths game to enjoy in class and at home.  If you need your log in details again please get in touch.  In maths we have been focusing on circles and triangles this week.  The class created beautiful pieces of art inspired by Kandinsky, they all worked so hard drawing the shapes onto paper and adding a splash of colour.  Well done Hatchmere!

A few named items of clothing have gone missing over the last few weeks.  Please can you check your uniform at home to see if they have come home by mistake.  Thank you.

Hatchmere loved wearing odd socks today for anti bullying week and took part in many activities through the week about kindness and caring for each other.

Wishing you a lovely weekend,

Mrs Birks, Mrs Inskip, Mrs Lathaen and Mr Hunt.
