Hello and welcome back to all our Hatchmere families!

We can’t quite believe this is the final term of the school year, but it will certainly be a busy and exciting one! This term our whole school topic is “What do we know about our world?” and in Hatchmere we’ll be focusing on learning about different countries and cultures as well as ways to keep our planet environmentally friendly. We will also be specifically focusing on comparing our local environment to a coastal environment by taking a trip to Thurstaston Beach with year 1 and 2.

Homework:

Over the summer term, across the school we will be developing how we deliver homework to children. On the first Monday back in school (16th April) each class is holding a homework meeting straight after school to discuss the changes, please try to attend the session.

Reading:

We will continue to change children’s reading books on a Monday and Thursday and will bench mark children at least every half term. Please ensure your child’s books are in the their bags each day so they can be read with a member of staff or take part in a guided reading session. We encourage you to read with your child 4 times a week.

Swimming and PE:

Hatchmere’s timetabled PE slots continue to be on a Monday and Thursday morning. Your child’s swimming day will continue the same as previous terms. If your child swims on a Monday please ensure their PE kit is returned on Tuesday morning in case of any timetable changes.

As this is the final term for children we will be spending time preparing them for the move to Oakmere by spending time in the classroom and discussing the changes they can expect.

We look forward to another fantastic term with you all. Please do not hesitate to speak to a member of Hatchmere staff if you have any questions.

Miss Hume, Mrs Lloyd and Mrs Lathaen
