We've had another busy week in Year 6

This week, we were visited by a lady from The Children's Society who told us all about the Christian practise of making Christingle.  We found out a little about this charity and also that Year 3 and 5 will be attending a special service at the Cathedral in January.

In Maths this week, we completed our work on place value and began to look at calculations involving the four operations.  This includes learning about how to solve word problems.

In Literacy, we were finalising and making final adjustments to our biographies about Howard Carter.  This has been really interesting work and we have learnt a lot about the discovery of Tutankhamen's tomb.

In Science, we have been using branching classification keys to identify recently discovered animals and plants. We also even created our own classification keys - I was particularly impressed by the children's understanding of this.

Next week, we will be focusing on completing our biographies.
