It's been a very busy week here in Nunsmere!

We have dove into our Year 4 curriculum and in maths we have started our first unit on Place Value. The children have been looking at the importance of a digit's position in a number. We have been looking at representing 1s, 10s, 100s and 1000s and the children have had a great time creating an image using these pictorially. We have also been practising our times tables every day and the children have amazed me with their knowledge!

In literacy we have been exploring our new literacy text, "The Whale" and the children have loved learning more and more about our story each day. They have asked questions and made predictions about the text based on objects which linked to it. We have been looking at lots of different elements of grammar including fronted adverbials and expanded noun phrases.

In Topic we have been learning all of our new vocabulary which is very important for our unit ahead.

The children were amazing in science this week when we started our topic of "Living Things and Their Habitats", they grouped different species in lots of different ways and I was so impressed with their fantastic teamwork during this activity.

We have also held speeches for School Council and Eco Ambassador this afternoon. I was absolutely thrilled that so many children wanted to run for these positions! The children have cast their votes, which will be counted over the weekend and the elected children will be announced on Monday.

Everybody should have had an invite to our class' Google Classroom; the homework has been uploaded this afternoon.

Wishing everyone a happy and restful weekend,

Miss Bate, Mrs Evans and Mrs Dodd
