Oakmere have been learning about two digit numbers by looking at the place value of each digit.

In numeracy this week we have been looking at the value of each digit in a two digit number. We have used lots of practical methods such as Numicon and Base ten equipment to help us understand this. It was exciting working outside and bundling sticks into tens and ones to also help us.

In literacy we have been looking at captions for pictures. We have been reading and matching captions to the correct photograph and searching for captions in non-fiction books. On Monday we also took part in an assembly by author Rachael Lyndsey. She told us all about her book 'The Warrior Troll' and we looked at some Viking artefacts they find.

Oakmere were eager to taste lots of delicious fruit in Little Chefs. Working in teams, they made a fruit salad including mango, grapefruit and blueberries, to name a few!

This week in phonics we have looked at 'ai', 'ee', 'igh' and 'oa' phonemes. At home can you think of words with your child that contain these graphemes? Can they practice writing any?

Next week we have our trip to Beeston Castle. Please remember to send packed lunch in a disposable bag. Children are to wear PE kit, school coat and wellington boots or trainers.

Thank you for your continued support,

Miss Wood and Mr Ashworth
