Oakmere have really enjoyed relaxing our bodies and minds for children's mental health week!

Each day this week we have focused on our mental health, spending up to 30minutes each day relaxing our minds and bodies. On Monday we focused on removing our worries and setting them off in the Bye Bye Boat https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A0kaS7jny_I Tuesday we learned about stretching and relaxing. Wednesday we had lots of fun in a laughter workshop and today we spend time listening to relaxing movement and completed mindfulness colouring in. Tomorrow we are going to focus on emotions and facial expressions linking in some ICT work.

Tuesday was also Safer Internet Day and the children followed along a story about Smartie the Penguin, identifying how Smartie can stay safe online. Why not read the story again at home? It can be found on http://www.childnet.com/resources/smartie-the-penguin/

In phonics this week we are beginning to look at the alternative graphemes to represent the 'ai' and 'ee' phonemes. Phonics play has some free games to look at these phonemes at https://www.phonicsplay.co.uk/aiAltSpellings.html and https://www.phonicsplay.co.uk/eeAltSpellings.html

Thank you to the parents who attended the phonics screening check meeting tonight. A pack will be sent home to those who were unable to attend. We are also currently updating and developing the 'phonics for parents' page on the school website so keep checking back for more resources over the next few weeks!

Finally, this week has been assessment week in school, all children will have been benchmarked by tomorrow and we have assessed writing and maths also. These will be shared within parents evening after half term.

Enjoy your weekend
