This week we have all enjoyed the warmer and brighter weather.

The children have continued to search for signs of Spring within the school grounds and even included the Spring theme into their play time.  This photo was taken by Miss Hume of a group of Oakmere children who had carefully worked together to build a bird nest. Isn't it impressive!

The children have been looking at punctuation in texts this week; correcting capital letters, full stops, commas, question marks and exclamation marks.  They enjoyed playing an alien punctuation game on the MacBooks, where they read the sentence and amended the parts using the selection at the bottom of the screen.  Here is the link if you would like to play at home http://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/ks1/literacy/using_punctuation/play/

The children also enjoyed rewriting Julia Donaldson's books What the Ladybird Heard and What the Ladybird Heard Next, as they included adventure, rhyme and humour.  The children enjoyed including commas in their punctuation list of what to include in their writing and we were really proud of their achievements!

In maths Oakmere have continued to explore multiplication and division work and are getting more and more confident in understanding what each part of the number sentences represents.  Great work Oakmere! Check out Twitter today to see some LOTC maths fun!

Today in Little Chefs we will be making delicious shortbread biscuits with Spring themed cutters and decorating them with icing patterns, yummy!

Yesterday the children all wished Bea and Jude a happy birthday;  'You also share your birthday with someone else very special' I said and shared with the children a photograph on the big screen of Miss Wood's beautiful baby boy born that very morning!  The children were thrilled to see and can't wait to meet him!  Many congratulations Miss Wood and Lee, the baby letters from the children for the postbox have begun!

Next week we have an assembly with the Bishop of Chester and an Easter service at St Peter's Church.  We look forward to seeing you at the Delamere Easter egg rolling competition next week!

We wish you a happy and sunny weekend,

Mrs Birks and Mr Ashworth
