Oakmere have been getting ready for their phonics screening tests next week in the sun!

The children have been playing phonics bingo, snap and many other fun games as they prepare themselves for next week.

In literacy we have been writing poems.  We have laughed so much trying to make the poems rhyme! Our themes were food, friends and monsters!  When reading rhyming stories to your child, pause at the rhyming word part and see how many words you can use to fill the gap! Very funny!

In numeracy we have continued our money work up to a £1; setting up a toy shop and using the exact money ( no change needed) to buy items. The children enjoyed an ICT game from top marks.

On Wednesday, the school had a pirate themed day to raise money for the RNLI.  Thank you very much for all the effort you made in dressing your children, they all looked fantastic!  Please see twitter for the pirate themed stalls during the lunch hour that day.

On Wednesday a home learning pack was sent home for the second part of the Summer Term.  We are currently working our way through benchmarking over the next couple of weeks.

We wish you a sunny and happy weekend,

Mrs Birks and Mr Ashworth.
