Welcome back to school, I hope you had a fantastic summer. The children have settled brilliantly into Oakmere.

We have had a lovely but very busy first week back at school after the summer holidays.

The children have been demonstrating  and applying their previous learnt phonic knowledge by writing sentences about themselves, where they live and what they like. They have also agreed class rules which are up on the wall in the classroom and have written their own rules.

We have also been thinking about friendships and how to be a good friend (linking them to the class rules and how our choices can affect other people and their feelings)

At the start of every year the children draw a portrait of themselves for their sketchbooks, these look brilliant! The children listened carefully and really thought about the features of their face and how to draw each feature correctly. We also designed and painted our topic book covers for this terms topic  'Where is all the evidence?' linked to Ancient Egypt and the Egyptians. Well Done!!

All the children are getting used to life in Oakmere and I look forward to seeing more of their fantastic writing, n umber knowledge and drawing skills next week.

Have a lovely weekend
