Welcome back!  The children have been so happy to see each other again after a lovely Christmas break!

This week Oakmere have been busy learning about split vowel digraphs.  Here the children are playing a game where they get into partners and say each word, then change partners.  The children chose the words for the boards and could have easily carried on once they reached their 24th word to start playing!

The class have started their new topic 'How do we celebrate difference?' by painting beautiful topic book covers based on the work of a few famous artists.  They look forward to showing you these on parents evening.

Oakmere also had the pleasure of meeting an author this week, they found this experience amazing!  Some even wondered if the author Eleanor Mckone was friends with Julia Donaldson! They all thoroughly enjoyed the story and the activity where they illustrated their favourite part of the story.

Homework grids and sheets have now been sent to you, the homework grid and spellings sheet is also available on the Oakmere homework section of the website.  Should you need any extra homework, the back page of the green spellings book has a page of words that are really useful to learn.  Activity ideas may be to write them as flash cards or to use these words in sentences, asking your child to make the sentence and write it down.

Thank you for your generous Christmas gifts, we were all very grateful for your kindness.

Here's to a happy Spring term, we wish you a restful weekend after a busy first week,

Mrs Birks, Mrs Jones, Miss Butler and Mr Ashworth
