It has been wonderful welcoming all of the Oakmere children back into school!

It has been lovely seeing all of the Oakmere children back together in one bubble again! Although they have only been in for 2 days, they have been brilliant and we have loved getting to know them all.

We have completed lots of CARE work to help the children settle back into school. The children have discussed what they are looking forward to most in year 1 and worked in groups to think of some classroom rules that they would like to have. Using the book 'Ruby's worry', we also explored why it is important to talk to people when we are worried and thought about who can help us to shrink our worries in school and at home. During the afternoon, the children really enjoyed drawing their self portraits and creating their topic book covers by making hand stencils!

We will be giving out new reading books on Monday. I know many of the children are eager to be benchmarked and this will begin shortly.

Next week, we’re holding a Zoom meeting on Wednesday after school at 4pm. We’ll be sending out the Zoom invite next week via admin. During the meeting, we will discuss the curriculum for this year, our timetable and homework. If you are unable to attend we will be screen recording the meeting and sharing that online for everyone to access.

Have a lovely weekend,

Miss Lewis and Mrs Carroll.
