Oakmere thoroughly enjoyed taking part in lots of exciting workshops this week!

On Wednesday, the children got creative in their drawing workshop with artist Chris Gilbert. The children used observation, memory and imagination to draw a picture of the sky. In the afternoon, the children got active and took part in a dance workshop with Samantha Dene. The children learned the first part of the dance and are looking forward to learning the next part in the next session. On Thursday, we took part in a storytelling workshop with Richard O'Neill. The children were captivated by his story about 3 cubs and the adventure to find their roar!

In Literacy this week, the children have impressed us with their ability to include adventurous vocabulary in their sentences. The adjectives that they generated to describe the wicked witch and Rapunzel were superb and will support them with their character descriptions next week.

In maths, we have continued to look at our times tables but this week focusing on our 5s and 10s. The children have been blowing us away with how quickly they can answer multiplication questions! At the end of the week, the children used a range of objects from toy cards, teddy bears and popcorn to help them make arrays.

In our afternoon sessions we have been discussing the creation story, exploring our emotions and labelling parts of the UK.

It has been fantastic to see all of the children getting out and having lots of fun in the snow. I was very jealous that I didn't get enough snow where I live to make my own snowman like the children (or should I say snow sheep, snow dog and snow crocodile!).

Make sure to also keep an eye out on the stream section of Google Classroom for additional challenges and activities from a range of staff in school such as cooking videos from Harry the Chef, healthy eating challenges from Mrs Lloyd, collective worships from Mrs Garner and story telling and science experiments from Miss Seery!

Thank you all for your kind words of support this week and your fantastic efforts to support your children with their learning.

Miss Lewis, Mrs Carroll and Miss Seery.
