Oakmere have blown us away with their creative writing this week!

After exploring the book 'Hermelin the detective mouse' in Literacy this half term, the children started to write their own character descriptions and detective stories this week. The Oakmere team have been blown away by the work submitted and the effort that has gone into it. We've had a range of different detectives: owls, mice, frogs, dogs, hamsters, fish, koalas and a chameleon! The children all worked incredibly hard to include adjectives, conjunctions, story language and correct punctuation. They should all be very proud of themselves.

We continued to look at fractions in maths but this week we started to explore quarters. The children used objects from around their houses to help them find a quarter of an object and a quarter of a quantity. The children were even able to solve some challenging word problems.

In science, a mysterious letter turned up at Miss Seery's door from somebody called Ben, asking the children for help as they had broken their umbrella (the children had lots of guesses over who this Ben could be so sorry family members called Ben, you will probably be interrogated when you next see them!). After discussing the properties of different materials, the children then investigated which materials were waterproof to help them decide which one Ben should use.

The children have also had lots of fun dancing with Samantha and drawing with Chris Gilbert. Later on today, we are going to finish off the week with some fun games!

Once again, thank you for all of your support this week. We have been so impressed with the children's engagement and effort and with all of the work that has been sent in.

Have a wonderful weekend. We can't wait to welcome the children back on Monday.
