Although it is the last week before half term, Oakmere have still been working hard.

During our science lesson, the children went on a nature walk around the school grounds to look for signs of spring. They found daffodils, leaves growing back on trees, bird nests, seedlings, bumblebees and even a ladybird taking flight!

In Literacy, the children have been writing letters from their detective animals to help people find their missing (or even stolen!) items. They have worked hard to include adjectives, exclamation marks, questions marks and joining words.

In maths, the children have been consolidating their knowledge of fractions by solving some real life problems. They used blocks to help them split quantities into halves and quarters.

With Easter fast approaching, the children have been exploring the true meaning of Easter in R.E. Although Oakmere all agreed that chocolate eggs are very yummy, the children learned why Christians celebrate with eggs.

The children have been busy making Easter cards, decorating eggs and making their own Easter wreath. The highlight of the week was definitely the egg rolling contest which the children were very egg-cited about!

It has been wonderful to welcome the children back (again!) this week and to see all of their big smiles as they have been playing outside in the sunshine.

We hope you all have a relaxing an fun-filled Easter half term.
