Welcome back Pickmere, I hope you have had a wonderful Christmas and New Year!

This week in topic (shown above), the children have begun their topic 'How do we celebrate difference?'. This is an arts themes topic, looking at a variety of artistic styles through history. To start that chronology, the children were looking at cave paintings with Mrs Campbell and learned all about the history surrounding that time. Here you can see the children have created hand paintings of their own!

In collective worship this week, Rev Elaine treated us to a service on Epiphany. The children enjoyed the props used and listening to the re-telling.

In Literacy this week we have started our text based work on 'The Hunter' by Paul Geraghty. The children have started to learn about poachers in Africa and the impact this has on the wildlife and in particular, African Elephants. They have undertaken some research to find out more and have also learned how to use modal verbs adverbs for possibility.

In maths this week we started looking at statistics, here they were able to read line graphs and plot bus times using a timetable. To end the week we began looking at comparing and ordering fractions with different denominators. The children used their times tables understanding to help them find a common denominator.

I hope you have a lovely weekend!
