Pickmere have LOVED learning, writing and speaking about Nelson Mandela this week!

We began by looking at Nelson Mandela's book 'Long Walk to Freedom' and using this, children have created some beautiful mind maps. Pickmere have been fascinated by his life and this really has shone through during class discussions and independent writing sessions. It's also fantastic to learn that many children have been sharing their 'Mandela Facts' with parents of an evening. In topic we continued we got arty and created Nelson Mandela portraits in the style of Chuck Close. Don't they look great!

In maths, we have been looking at prime numbers and long multiplication. Children are working hard to master the concept of multiplication!

This week, as a full school, we spoke about Remembrance Day and observed a one-minute silence in respect of all service people. As seen in the photo below, children have been using watercolours in RE to create some beautiful poppies.

Lastly, thank you to everyone who came to parents evening either this week or last. It was fantastic to finally meet you all properly and to be able to share with you your child’s achievements. I hope you all have a beautiful end to the week and manage to have a well-deserved rest.
