Pickmere have had so much fun being out and about on their bikes this week.

We had a fantastic start to the week. On Monday, children took it in turns to practise their cycling skills on the playground. Instructors were on hand to give tips and advice, helping children learn how to balance using one hand and look over their shoulders whilst still going in a straight line! Trickier than it sounds for sure. By the end of Monday, they were all deemed safe enough to pass their level 1 and progress onto level 2. The following two days were spent practising these newly learnt skills along the school road and Watling Drive. For the majority of the training we were very fortunate that the sun was shining. Unfortunately, on Wednesday the wet British weather had returned but this is not dampen the children’s spirits. They continued to work hard and all managed to pass their level 2! Well done Pickmere.

We have had a huge focus on literacy this week too. This has been combined with our topic learning in relation to South Africa. Children have created holiday brochures using persuasive language. I am amazed at just how fantastic these are looking. In maths we have continued to discuss how we can read a variety of timetables.

I’m sure we would all agree that this has been an incredibly challenging and eventful week! We understand that you have been inundated with new information and changes recently. Over the next few days, please take some time to read through all information and guides and try to familiarise yourself and your children with the various online platforms that they will be using as of Monday 30th March. When visiting google classroom for the first time, you will notice that in the ‘stream’ section has links to all online platforms that children have access too. Many children have been asking how they can stay in contact with each other during school closures. They have access to purple mash email, and through this they can send a message to each other. This is monitored internally by ourselves.

If you have any questions, please use your new google email to contact us at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. Emails will be checked regularly between the hours of 9am – 4pm, Monday to Friday. We will continue to help and support our Delamere families as much as possible at these difficult times.

We hope that you manage to remain safe and keep each other sane over the forthcoming days and potentially weeks. Keep smiling, have some fun and remain positive. We hope to see you all very soon.

Miss Wild, Mrs Law and Mrs Evans
