On Tuesday Pickmere had their first internet safety day of the year.

We started by looking at various social media apps and games and we discussed the age restrictions attached to these. The class showed great maturity when discussing the reasons behind these age restrictions and were able to maintain a healthy class debate. By the end of the day, the children all agreed that social media shouldn’t be used by young children - unless being supervised by an appropriate adult. As the day progressed, we also looked at how we could stay safe when using gaming sites that have some form of ‘chat’ feature. The children came up with some wonderful ideas.

Pickmere also had an online workshop this week with Janet from United Utilities. The children learnt all about the water cycle and discussed how we can begin to reduce our water usage in and around school.

In maths we have continued with our work based on addition and subtraction. In literacy we have been continuing to learn about phrases and clauses.

Next week we shall complete our first set of year 5 assessments. These are used to give us an indication of children’s pre-existing knowledge of the year 5 curriculum. We also have our parents evening meetings next week and these will be held over the telephone. If you haven’t booked a time slot, then please do so by following the link sent out on Eezee Trip.

Have a lovely weekend and I look forward to speaking to you all next week.
