Welcome back after a lovely 2 week break. The summer term is always a busy term for children with SATs and our residential.

We will soon be holding a residential meeting to go through everything we will be doing with the group leader from learning outside the classroom. He will explain everything the children will be doing, where they will be staying and the types of things we will be eating.  A letter with exact time and date will be given out closer to the time.

Over the next few weeks the children will be preparing for their SATS, we will be looking at past papers and going through the best ways to tackle things. These will be completed throughout May  in small groups and we have lots of fun and exciting things planned in between.

The date of our parents meeting for SATs has changed from Thursday 18th April to Tuesday 23rd April.

In maths at first we will be revising for our Sats- paper 1 is all arithmetic questions and paper 2 is a reasoning paper.

The 3 mains topic we will be covering are measurement Ma2/ 3.1, position and direction Ma2/3.3 and statistics Ma2/4.1.

In literacy we will be looking at different stories, in particular we will be looking at Jack and the Beanstalk and The Three Little Pigs and re-writing our own version of this by drafting En2/3.3b  and editing En2/3.3c . We will also be writing some different character descriptions.

In science we will be looking at our final 2 topics. Living things and their habitats Sc2/2.1 and Plants Sc2/2.2.

In topic our main focus this term will be geography we will be looking at different maps linking to the local area Ge2/1.1 and labeling physical and human features Ge1/1.3b.

Parental Help

Parental help is always valued and helps the children access a wider range of activities. If you would like to help please come in and let us know how you would like to be involved, whether you would like a regular slot or just to come in on art days or for special events, and we will try our best to accommodate you. As part of our safeguarding review all regular helpers will need to submit a DBS check.

Any questions please don’t hesitate to ask

Many thanks

Miss Prince and Mrs Garner
