Welcome back to the final half-term!

In Literacy we will be looking at adventure and mystery stories, by the end of the term each child will have written an exciting story and used lots of role-play to develop their sentences. We have been looking at VCOP (Vocabulary, Connectives, Openers and Punctuation) Pyramids and the children will use these to mark their own work and improve their writing. Each child will have two targets to aim for at the end of the six weeks. In numeracy we are focusing on counting and understanding number. We will begin to look at bigger numbers, place value and learn how to round numbers to the nearest 10 or 100.

We will continue to learn about the Olympics within topic and will hopefully put our new kitchen into good use by cooking! So far this week we have begun exploring our new literacy and numeracy topics and have designed our own fruit kebabs as a healthy dessert to bring home next week! Zen, who helped us write our names in Calligraphy last week, has taught us how to make Origami paper boxes, we had to fold the paper over a lot and put our pieces together to make the final box! It was tricky but we managed! We also used our new construction skills to make lifeboats for the Arley flower show display next weekend.
