This week in our practical maths lesson this week we used flash cards to create different digit numbers.

The children worked in groups of 4 and using individual flash cards created numbers using their knowledge of place value. It was great to see the children work so well together to complete the challenges.

In literacy this week we’ve started to write our diary entries for the boy visiting the Martian planet based on the book ‘the way back home’ by Oliver Jeffers.

Sandymere really enjoyed our Harvest festival in school this morning, we learnt about why Harvest is a time to celebrate for Christians. Following the collective worship we created an information page in RE books about Harvest and made apple crumble-using apples harvested from the fruit trees on our school field. The crumble was really yummy and was a nice Friday afternoon treat!

A big well done to all the children on their spellings the last two weeks, each child has done really well and they’ve learnt lots of new words! The children don’t have green practise books this year; they have smaller red books to use for the end of week test. The books are kept by the door of Sandymere classroom if you wish to have a look in them.

We hope you have a lovely weekend!
