This week has been another busy week for Sandymere after a lovely first half term in year 2.

In school this week, each class was tasked with creating a guy fawkes for the Fox and Barrel bonfire night with the theme of 'space', Sandymere decided to create an alien.

This week in our mac book slot the children worked in partners to create a space blog to share all their knowledge about the 1969 moon landing. The children enjoyed exploring a different way of sharing their understanding of a subject. Sandymere's mac book skills are improving each week.

The children have also taken part in some assessments this week which will be shared with you during parents evening. Each child has worked really hard and should be proud of how they've settled into life in year 2!

Last week I got to go on an exciting adventure to China for a week, I visited Beijing and Qingdao. The purpose of the visit was to form a sister-school relationship with a primary school in Qingdao to facilitate us being able to take year 5 and 6 children over to visit next academic year. It was an amazing experience and i'm so grateful to get the opportunity to go. It was lovely to hear how well behaved Sandymere had been for Mrs Garner and the other staff who helped to cover the week. They've also really enjoyed learning about my experiences in China this week and looking at all the gifts the sister-school gave me.

We have provided the children with some optional reading comprehensions that can be done over the half term. The reading comprehension paper is difficult one and the more practise children have the more confident they will become.

Over the half term the Sandymere Homework section of the website will be updated with a new spelling list and homework grid. If you haven't already, please bring in children's homework folders the first Monday back so we can provide them with the resources needed for the next homework grid.

We hope you have a fantastic half term holiday.
