This week Sandymere held their collective worship at the church and what a fantastic job they did!

We are very proud of how beautifully the children spoke and sang during the collective worship. It was a good practise for our Christmas Nativity! The focus of our collective worship was on the use of lights in religious and non-religious celebrations. Thank you to all who attended.

We’ve had a busy first week back, on Monday the children attended a ‘touring opera’ performance, which focused on the first animal in space. It was a fantastic experience for the children and staff! It linked perfectly with our topic and was a different way of learning that the children all really enjoyed.

In numeracy this week we’ve been focusing on addition, in particular using our place value and number bond knowledge to help us solve addition problems. The children enjoyed a practical lesson working in groups to use the rocker scales and numicon.

We also had a student teacher, Miss Squires, start on Monday. She will be with us until February.

Thank you to everyone who attended parents evening this week; it was lovely to share your child’s achievements so far this year with you. We look forward to next weeks parents evening too.

The children have a new homework grid and spellings on the website, most children have returned their homework folder and that has been filled with the relevant homework templates. If you do not have the updated versions please ask your child to bring in their homework folder next week. Please remember to do one homework task a week.

We hope you have a lovely weekend,

Miss Hume and Mrs Garner
