Sandymere have had a lovely week this week with our visitor on Wednesday.

Imran visited us on Wednesday and following a whole school assembly Sandymere had an hour workshop in the classroom. The focuses for our workshop was to learn about how births and marriages are celebrated by Muslim’s and compare this to how Christian’s celebrate these important life events.

We really enjoyed learning about the celebrations and traditions that surround births and weddings and the children learnt lots. We’ve been writing up what we learnt in our RE lesson today and writing a thank you letter to Imran.

In maths this week we’ve been learning how to tell the time to the o’clock, half past, quarter past and quarter to. We’ve also been looking at different lengths of time and how these are the same, for example one hour and 60 minutes. On top of all that we even had chance to look at time on digital clocks! This is a really good topic to recap at home through lots of conversations about lengths of time and encouraging children to read and recognise the time on different types of clocks.

Thank you to all the parents who came to parents evening on Wednesday; it was lovely to share the children’s books with you. We look forward to seeing the rest of the families next Wednesday.

The children took home their new homework resources today, in a plastic wallet or in their homework folder they’ll be a homework grid and the templates for some of the homework pieces. If you have your child’s homework folder please put the plastic wallet into that. A reminder that homework is to be brought in on a Friday and the weekly spellings are on the website. Today we tested week 1 spellings.

We hope you have a lovely weekend.

Miss Hume and Mrs Garner
