We’ve tried our best in Sandymere and the wider school to keep things as normal as possible this week. We’ve continued with our lessons and SATs preparations.

In our topic work we’ve been researching holiday brochures and looking at the persuasive language that is used in them. We’ve been specifically looking at holidays to Madagascar and why you would want to go on holiday there. The children then planned their own holiday brochure and what they would include in it.

In maths we’ve been recapping measuring and how to use a cm ruler accurately by drawing lines to a certain length and measuring items then recording their lengths.

The children have been amazing this week, in fact they’ve been amazing all year. It’s been an honour to teach this class of children for the second time and we’ve gained some fantastic new members this year too. I hope to see them again in Sandymere before the end of year but we’ll wait and see on that one.

As staff we’re working hard to allow children’s learning to take place at home via the learning packs and the Google classroom. I understand you’ve received a lot of information on this learning platform so please take the time over the weekend to read all the guides we have created and get logged in and ready for the learning to begin! We hope this will work smoothly but please bare with us as we all learn how to use this system for the first time. The contact email to speak with Mrs Garner and myself is This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and we will be answering emails Monday-Friday between 9am and 4pm. Also please remember children’s log in details for purple mash are stuck in their reading diaries, these log in details are to be used for MyMaths and TT Rockstars (more information will be given on MyMaths via Google classroom).

Over the last week lots of great websites have offered free logins such as Twinkl and phonics play, please look into these online and see if they will also be helpful for children’s home learning.

Thank you for your kind words today and continued support this week and in the coming weeks. Stay safe and take care of each other. We look forward to seeing you again soon, hopefully.

Miss Hume and Mrs Garner
