It’s been another fantastic week filled with lots of hard work in Sandymere.

Sandymere finished their diary entries based on the book The Way Back Home this week, we’ve all been so proud of how hard they have worked on their extended writing piece. We’re looking forward to next half term when we’ll start a new literacy and maths topic.

We will still be continuing with our topic lessons based on the question ‘Where did history begin?’ but our focus will be on the Bronze Age and Iron Age. On Wednesday we started learning about the Bronze Age and the immigration of the ‘Beaker People’. To understand the impact of this immigration the children all had a turn at creating their own mini clay pot. It was lots of fun, messy but lots of fun none the less!

In maths this week we have finished our place value topic and will be starting addition and subtraction after the half term. We finished our topic with a practical lesson where the children were challenged to go shopping in pairs, they needed to use their place value knowledge to support them to add their two chosen items together.

During the half term, Google classroom will be updated with a new homework grid and new spellings for the following half term.

We hope you have a lovely break, the children have worked so hard this half term and the Sandynere staff are really proud of how they have transitioned back into school following the school closure. We can’t wait to see you back and hear all about your exciting week.
