We can’t believe we’re in December already!

The children have been very excited about opening their advent calendars this week and starting the official countdown to Christmas. So this week we have been learning about how advent is celebrated in the Christian faith and what each week mean. We also looked at alternative advent calendars and each child made their own 12 days of Christmas ‘random acts of kindness’ which were lovely to read.

In maths this week we’ve been using the partition method to add 2 two-digit numbers together, this is our first written method and next week we’ll be learning how to use column addition.

In topic this week we’ve been planning a diary entry pretending that we are a child in the either the Stone Age, Bronze Age or Iron Age. The children have really enjoyed learning about prehistoric Britain so this will be a lovely end to our topic.

We’re looking forward to starting lots of Christmas activities in the next two weeks and we have lots to look forward to.

On Monday we have our Stone Age workshop and the children have the option to dress up if they wish to do so.

Please can we ask that all Nativity costumes are in school by Monday at the latest as we are beginning to film the Nativity on Tuesday.

We hope you have a lovely weekend,

Miss Hume, Mrs Lloyd, Mrs Dodd and Mrs Davison
