This week has been our first full week in Sandymere and what a fantastic week it’s been.

We’ve been busy with literacy work, maths and our first topic lesson this week. In literacy we’ve been working on our ‘A River’ book and using sequencing to show the sequence of the story. In maths we have started our place value and taken part in a practical lesson today looking at representing the tens and ones of a number. Sandymere worked fantastically as a group and impressed us so much that they were all given a blue certificate.

In our CARE lesson this week we were discussing the school council and the eco council. We discussed that the council is a way of children helping to make improvements to school. We challenged the children to all think of a way they would improve school and pitch their idea to the rest of the class. The children then voted in a ballet for three children to represent the Sanymdere class on the school council and the eco council. It was a great lesson and one the children really enjoyed.

As of today the homework has gone onto Google Classroom and the first homework hand in date and spelling test is on Friday next week. You will have received an invite to the new Sandymere google classroom on your child’s email.

We hope you have a lovely weekend,

Miss Hume and Mr Ashworth
