Today saw the official opening of The Ark and our Jubilee Garden. This was a wonderful occasion and was followed by a great afternoon of picnics and fun on the school field. It is important at events such as this that we thank all the individuals involved in the completion of the project.

Since becoming an Academy we have invested over £350,000 in capital expenditure in each and every child. Today marked not only the completion of a major investment but the successful establishment of our Academy. There were many who thought an organisation the size of ours could not possibly cope with the demands the Academy system places upon it. However, we have not only coped but excelled. This is due to the great team which we have working at the school and the tremendous support we receive from all our parents, who give a huge amount of time to make sure that they really support what we do for their children. School looked great today and I would like to thank the staff for the hours they have put in over and above the day to day teaching to make sure that this day and all the others are the best they can be for the children. Also thanks to all our Friends of Delamere who made the afternoon such a success.

The opening was lovely and I was very pleased with the kind words from both Stephen O'Brien and Peter Lauener. I thank them for spending time in our school and also Peter for the funding! Upon leaving, Peter paid us the greatest accolade of all, saying he "hadn't had so much fun at a school in years!" Great praise indeed from a gentlemen who controls the education budget for all schools nationally!

In no particular order, all these people have helped to develop our school and made sure that the opening of the Ark was successful:

  • Rigby's PLC – In particular Martin Rigby, Darren Rigby and Andy Hill for the completion of our library extension and central heating in October. This was completed on time and under budget.
  • Nick Wheeler at Insite Architecture for successfully designing and project managing phase 1 of construction
  • Déjà Vu Painters and Decorators
  • Alan Davies Painters and Decorators
  • Roomworks Ltd for the building of The Ark
  • Mike Fiddling and all those at Greenacres Landscapes for the wonderful completion of the Jubilee Gardens
  • Steve Hancock, Mark Pridding and the legend that is Bucko! – for associated ground works and additional landscaping
  • Andy Hill at Capper Construction for completion of internal fixtures and fittings and also drain and land clearance. Andy was originally at Rigby's but liked us so much he came back with a different company!
  • Rob Lawson for electrical work
  • Stephen Ford for the joinery work
  • MGL for the wireless technology
  • Bewcraft Signs
  • Anthony Benson at Benson Thomas
  • Jim at CSS Security
  • Morreys Garden Centre
  • Matt Munday for all our free bark!
  • All our parents who donated plants to the Jubilee Garden – thank you!

And finally the following parents: Jayne Cooper, Katherine Diggle, Lindsey Jones, Lisa Lovett, Tom Lovett, Julie Marlow, Lesley Pickstock, Jo Price, Tara Venables, Fiona Wall and Celia Wallis. We spent two days painstakingly gluing and sticking the huge concrete sixty in our playground. As a result of the temperature being in the 80s last weekend, the tiles fell off. Tom Lovett kindly gave up two days to painstakingly restore all our efforts to glory and make sure that we were ready on time! Thank you to all ...
