Dear Parents and Carers                                                                                                              17 May 2019

I have been incredibly proud of our Year 2 and 6 pupils across the last couple of weeks. Both our Year 2 and Year 6 classes have been busy tackling their SATS (Standardised Assessments). It has been lovely to see how the children have taken each test in their stride. Each one determined to show how off what they have learned. This week, our Year 6 children have been tested in Reading, Grammar and Spelling, Mental Arithmetic and Maths Reasoning. These tests take place over four mornings and as a reward the Year 6 are off to visit Chester Zoo today. Our Year 2’s did their final test today which was Grammar and Spelling and I know Miss Prince has a special surprise planned for them next week.

This week Mr Freeman organised a KS1 tag-rugby competition for the Academy Trust schools. This was a fantastic event with nearly 70 children from seven schools taking part in some friendly competition. All the children from each school played fantastically well and improved with each game. Also a special mention to our Year 6 Sports Leaders who helped to run the event and officiated the games with great confidence.

Also this week, some of our Hatchmere children took part in their very first school sports competition when representing Delamere at the Sandstone Sports Partnership Football Festival at Tarporley High School. All of the children played exceptionally well and thoroughly enjoyed this experience.

Linmere are off on their residential to the Eden Project in Cornwall on Sunday morning. Please can all children be dropped off at 8am ready to leave at 8.30am.

Next Friday 24 May at the Pickmere class tuck shop, the PTA will be running another book stall   Do you have books at home that your children have outgrown?  If you would be happy to donate them, to help the fundraising effort, please leave them at the school office next week.

Can we once again remind you all to park sensibly as we have had local residents commenting about having their driveways blocked and cars parked too close to junctions. Please be considerate and remember children can be dropped off from 8.35am until 8.50am each morning.  Cars should not be parked within 10 metres of the Stoney Lane junctions to allow vehicles to safely enter and exit the A556 with clear visibility.

Have a lovely weekend.
