Dear Parents and Carers                                                                                                              24 May 2019

This week, Linmere were incredibly lucky to have such fantastic weather on their trip to the Eden Project in Cornwall. The Twitter updates showed just how much fun they were having and a great way to keep us all updated. The behaviour of the children was outstanding throughout the trip.

Yesterday, seven children from Delamere visited Waterstones in Chester as finalists in the NWAT 500 words competition. Congratulations to Murray Turner, William Webster, Ted Dedicoat, Gabriel Green, Bella Irwin, Eleanor Earle and Max Gascoigne.  Murray and William came second and third place respectively, out of 14 finalists. Each child was awarded a gift voucher for Waterstones and school has been given a total of £450. In addition, there have been five children who made it through the first round of Radio 2’s competition.

It has been a very busy week on the sporting front with lots of events and competitions taking place across all Key Stages. Our infants took part in a Rugby Festival at Tarporley High School, a group of our Year 3 and 4 children attended the Warrington Wolves Rugby League Festival and our Year 5 and 6 team took part in the Sandstone Sports Partnership Athletics competition; winning two Gold medals, a Silver and a Bronze. Also this week, Mr Freeman organised a Handball Competition for our Academy Trust schools that was hosted by Rudheath Senior School. This was a fantastic event with five schools taking part. Well done to all of the children who have represented the school so well this week.

This week our local PCSO has been monitoring parking around school at the end of the day; this will continue after half term for a few weeks. Please be considerate and remember children can be dropped off from 8.35am until 8.50am each morning.  Cars should not be parked within 10 metres of the Stoney Lane junctions to allow vehicles to safely enter and exit the A556 with clear visibility. Residents’ driveways should also not be blocked.

Today Hatchmere are off on a trip to Bunbury Mill where they will learn about the history of the mill and make their own bread. Also, they will have a guided pond dipping session to identify and observe wildlife in the pond.

Thank you to Mrs McGhie, who has accepted a teaching role in another school. We wish her lots of luck in her new job.

We finish today for half term, and return to school on Monday 3 June.

Have a lovely week.

Miss Wood
