Dear Parents and Carers                                                                          Friday 21 June 2019

This week has been assessment week so our Year one, three, four and five children have been completing their final assessments for this academic year. The results of this and all other on-going assessments will be reported to parents in the end of academic year school reports. Of course, these assessments do not take priority over swimming, PE, French, music lessons and all the other things which ensure that our curriculum is full and enriched.

This term, our House Captains and Vice Captains have been busy raising money for their House Charities. Thank you for supporting their efforts with donations of items, time and purchases. This week it was the turn of the Squirrels who held a bring and buy sale and next week Foxes are holding a sponsored run up Eddisbury Hill on Monday.

It has been a very successful week on the sporting front. Starting last Saturday with our swimming team winning the Jack Denton Primary Gala! On Tuesday, our team took part in the Chester Schools Rounders competition against 25 other schools and finished in a very respectable third place. Also this week, our Girls Cricket team won the Chester Schools Sports Partnership Cricket Competition at Boughton Hall Cricket Club. They will now go on to represent Chester at the County Finals in July which is a fantastic achievement! Our excellent week of sport finished with our Year 4 tennis team winning a Bronze medal at the Sandstone Sports Partnership Tennis Competition. Well done to all of the children who have represented the school this week!

This week, Sandymere have been on their residential. Their adventure included a River Gowy tunnel adventure, preparing their own tea and of course washing up. They’ve had an overnight camp-out with a bedtime campfire. The two-day stay also included lots of team building activities and shelter building.

Today a small group of children attended an Ethos Conference at Tarporley Primary School. The day was filled with a variety of activities including an art and music workshop.

It is our annual Sports Day and Summer Fair next Friday (28 June). Just a reminder that our family picnic starts at 11.45am. There will be a hog roast available.  At 12:45pm (approximately) Sports Day will commence. This is followed by the announcement of the Sports Week House Winners and the Grand Draw! Immediately after this event our Summer Fair will begin. The next day is our annual Beer and Gin Festival. Do not forget to purchase your tickets which are available on Eezee Trip.

Enjoy your weekend
