Welcome to PIP

The PTA is a group of parents, carers and staff who voluntarily run social events for parents and children and organise fundraising events. All parents are automatically members and we are really active. This year so far we raised over £17000 and this money is used for the purpose of enriching life for the children at school, although we also raised over £500 for MacMillan and Save the Children.

For example, the PTA funded the purchase of mac books for the children to use, music and RE workshops, donations for Christmas and Easter events as well as sports kit for teams representing the school. A lot of the playground equipment was supported by the PTA.

You probably know about our Beer festival which is a popular local event. We also hold Christmas and Summer fairs, quiz nights, children’s discos, all with help and support from the teachers and staff as well as parents. We are open for any ideas for new events or activities and there is plenty of opportunity to get involved. Meetings are held the first Thursday of every month in the evening so please come along and join in.

We put all our news and events up on Classlist. It’s a free, safe, secure online community for the school where you can post questions and message other parents in your child’s class, house or to the whole school. It’s really useful for tracking down lost jumpers, organising play dates and checking the homework. It’s a good way to contact the PYA if you need to.

Importantly for Delamere PTA it is used for our second hand uniform sales. This is not the only way to buy – we do old fashioned sales as well – but it’s quick and easy and uniform can be sent home with your child in a day or so.

Classlist also enables you to share your contact details with other parents in the same year group.  You have full control over your privacy settings and can also join and use Classlist without sharing your contact details. It is GDPR compliant and you can start by going to www.classlist.com or searching for ‘Classlist’ in your App Store.

School grounds development

Delamere C of E Academy and PIP are working collaboratively on a project to develop the school grounds. Details of the work being undertaken and funding for the current project can be found in the attached document below.

Film Night Paddington

Seventy-two children attended cinema night this week, where they watched Paddington.  A total of £253 will have been raised with this event. Thank you to all who were involved in making this event a success.

Parents football match.

A cold winters morning. A bleak and cold field... and 22 men (plus subs) walking out onto a misty field. Would it be Mr Davies' Rest of the World Team or Mr Docking's England All Stars who would leave victorious? Or be stretchered off?

Supporters turned out in their droves with even the tiniest turning up to view the show, warmed only by a cup of hot chocolate, a hotdog and the desire to see their team win.

The final score was 2-2 and a penalty shoot out saw 'The Rest of the World' Team victorious.

The Christmas Light Switch On

alt

The Christmas Light Switch On was a huge success. Year 6 children have been working hard on their enterprising skills and the event saw them turn their hand to selling. The ingenuity of the football spin and the creativity behind the Hair accessory stall, to name but two, are a sign of big things to come for our pupils. Santa's Grotto was warmed by the smiling faces of excited children and the picture souvenirs will provide cherished memories of Christmas at Delamere Academy.

Smiling faces carried on through the evening, with amazing prizes won and tummies sated by a tasty Barbecue.

Smart or Sparkle Disco

alt

The Smart or Sparkle Disco was a great success. DJ Steve had the children (and teachers) bopping to all of the latest tunes. Some of the children shook out some great shapes on the dance floor - it was a fun way to end our busy half term.
