PE and Sport Premium Funding at Delamere Academy

The PE and Sport Premium is designed to help primary schools improve the quality of the PE and sport activities they offer their pupils. In 2017-18 we will receive £16,000 and an additional £10 per pupil giving us a total of £17,670.

The Department for Education vision for the Primary PE and Sport Premium is that ALL pupils leave primary school physically literate and with the knowledge, skills and motivation necessary to equip the for a healthy, active lifestyle and lifelong participation in physical activity and sport.

This year we aim to improve and sustain PE and Sport within our school by;

          Improving children's levels of engagement and learning

  • Employing a full time PE Teacher (Mr Freeman) to ensure that ALL children within the school from F2 to Year 6 receive a minimum of 2 hours high quality P.E. teaching each week
  • Using structured PE planning and assessment framework to ensure the children’s progress is monitored
  • Providing quality assurance of lessons via lesson observations from School SLT

           Increasing children's levels of participation / Inclusive opportunities

  • Hiring quality sports coaches  to enhance our existing extra-curricular sports programme – before, during and after school
  • Subsidise swimming lessons to allow ALL children within the school to swim weekly
  • Purchase specialist equipment to allow the children to take part in a variety of sports/activities within P.E. lessons and extra-curricular clubs
  • Forge links with local sports clubs, introducing new sports and encouraging more children to take up sport

    Increasing competitive sporting opportunities for our children

  • Forging links with the other schools within our Academy Trust to deliver Inter-School Sports Competitions to ensure ALL children take part in competitive sport with a particular focus on increasing GIRLS participation
