We have had an extremely busy week this week full of sporting fixtures, festivals, trips and events!

To start the week Mr Freeman and three of our Year 5 girls travelled to the Bolton Arena to take part in the Youth Sport Trust Girls Active training session. This was a fantastic experience which the girls thoroughly enjoyed and we returned to school with lots of inspiration and ideas on how to develop girls PE and sport even further within our school...watch this space!

On Tuesday our Year 6 football team travelled to Belgrave Primary School to take part in the Quarter Finals of the Chester and District Primary Schools Cup. In a very even game in which both goalkeepers played exceptionally well it was Belgrave who ran out as winners. Despite our disappointment, the children should be very proud of their efforts this season including qualifying to take part in the Chester Champions Tournament at Manchester City FC Academy in May!

All this week, Mr Freeman organised an Academy Trust KS1 Tag-Rugby Festival which was hosted by Oak View. The emphasis of these events as always is for the children to develop their skills and understanding of different sports whilst at the same time experiencing friendly competition against the other schools within the Academy Trust. This was a really fantastic event with each school team getting better with every game they played. In the end the eventual winners with three wins and a draw was...Delamere!!

In PE this week, the children in KS1 have been taking part in hockey and tag-rugby whilst the KS2 children have been taking part in the more creative aspects of the PE curriculum in Dance and Gymnastics.

At the end of last week a number of children from KS2 braved the horrendous weather conditions to take part in the Chester Schools Cross Country event at West Cheshire Athletics Club. Well done to all the children who represented the school so well in this long distance race.

Have a good weekend.

Mr F.
