Swimming at Delamere Academy

A group of our infants enjoying a weekly swimming lesson

Swimming is a vital life skill that gives children confidence, independence and also all round fitness. It is a compulsory part of our curriculum offer. At our school all children swim weekly from reception to Year 6. We swim at three different venues throughout the year in Delamere, Winsford and Northwich. Also for our more able swimmer we offer lane swimming each Tuesday morning free of charge, with the aim of further developing the children's swimming technique and stamina. We expect this group to form the basis of our school swimming team who will compete in a number of swimming galas throughout the year.

Our Swimming Team taking part in a Swimming Gala

All swimming is taught by suitably qualified staff who hold an ASA award. As the children progress throughout school we offer galas at intra and inter school level and we also enter water polo competitions. As swimming is an offsite activity parents pay a voluntary contribution towards the costs of pool hire and transport.

Please can boys wear fitted swimming shorts/ trunks and girls wear swimming costumes. It is advised that all children have goggles as part of their swimming kit. Swimming caps are also recommend.

Should you have any questions about our swimming program or what takes place within swimming lesson please feel free to contact our PE teacher Tom Freeman.
